GAIL committed to uphold interest of end consumers of PMT JV gas

Gail India Ltd has announced that there have been reports in a certain section of the media regarding the impact on consumers in Gujarat, following the decision of award of marketing rights of PMT gas to Gail Government of India nominee. Gail would like to clarify that the interest of the end consumer is foremost for the Company and Gail will take all necessary steps to uphold the interest of the direct end consumers of the PMT gas in all regions including Gujarat.

The PMT gas would be supplied by Gail in accordance with the Gas Utilization Policy and the interests of city gas consumers and users of gas for feedstock like fertilizer, power and petrochemical would continue to receive priority attention. In view of the importance of City Gas Projects, these would continue to be given high priority. Further, in addition to its own network, Gail would be using the available transportation network of other Companies in the State to market its natural gas to consumers in the State of Gujarat.

Gujarat today gets the major share of gas supplies in country. Out of the total present availability of 99.38 MMSCMD natural gas in the country, consumers in Gujarat get around 38.25 MMSCMD (38.5%). All on-shore gas produced in Gujarat is supplied to consumers in Gujarat only.

Gail would like to reiterate its commitment to uphold the interests of the end consumers.
