Satyam Computer - CII and Satyam foray into specialized training to build value for industry

Satyam Computer Services Ltd has informed that CII Andhra Pradesh has organized a two day Reliability Engineering Workshop with Satyam as the knowledge partner and Reliasoft as the technology partner. The Company has become the first Company in the private sector to offer training in Reliability Engineering.

Reliability Engineering helps meet real-world challenges in designing robust products and processes that are capable of performing the intended functions under a given set of operating conditions without fail. Traditionally, government-run organizations have organized these trainings.

Dr. T S K Murthy, senior vice president, Integrated Engineering Solutions (IES), Satyam while delivering the welcome address, said, "This is the first time that en Engineering Services Provider is looking at training personnel on Reliability Engineering for the Industry. At Satyam we have built strong competency in Reliability Engineering and we see this as a progression of our knowledge and expertise. This is aimed at increasing the overall competency of the vertical in the industry over a period of time. We are looking to train at least 200 over the next few years".

Mr. T S Nanjundaswamy, group director, Systems Reliability Group, ISRO Satellite Center made a presentation on how reliability & quality assurance plans are developed for space programmes in ISRO.

The Inaugural session was also addressed by Prof. G V Nandagopal, technology director, Directorate for Reliability & Quality Assurance, DRDL, Prof. Anant Patki, chief engineer, Satyam Integrated Engineering Solutions besides others.

Dr. Saugat Mukherjee, director & head, CII Andhra Pradesh delivered the concluding remarks. In his address, he mentioned that the national theme of CII is "Building People, Building India". Dr. Mukherjee highlighted the activities of CII Institute of Quality, CII - Sohrabji Green Business Center & Andhra Pradesh Technology Development & Promotion Center in building competitiveness. Today's workshop is one such initiative in this direction. CII is committed to developing the skill pool across all levels. Dr. Mukherjee in his address mentioned, " We have a demographic advantage over other countries. Our challenge is to convert this demographic advantage into demographic dividend through several skill development initiatives across all levels." He also mentioned that CII believes in creating employability through skill development initiatives. In Andhra Pradesti, CII is working on the upgradation of 17 ITIs to convert them into centers of excellence. He also mentioned about the MoU signed between CII & Andhra University to impart soft skills to PG students by the industry consortium members.

Satyam has entered into tie-ups with US & Indian Universities for certification programs in Reliability and IES associates who are taking up the sessions are Certified Reliability Practitioners and Experts. Reliability built into the products and processes during the design stage reduces the cost incurred in prototyping and functional testing activities during the later part of the product development lifecycle.

The training programmes would benefit Design, Maintenance and Testing Engineers working with organizations involved in Product Design, Process Design and Plant Maintenance. It would aim at helping these practicing engineers adapt practices that make products - parts, components and system - more reliable, have less problems during operations and more dependable.
