Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam bonds

Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd has informed that the Deep Discount Bonds issued through public issue during 1993 is got listed on the Stock Exchange for trading.

2.0 As per Listing Agreement executed with the exchange, the Company is required to furnish unaudited financial results on quarterly basis within one month of the expiry of the period to the Stock Exchange and has to make announcement in one English daily newspaper circulating in whole or substantially the whole of India and in newspaper published in the language of the region where the registered office of the Company is situated. If the Company is yet to commence the commercial production, then instead of quarterly financial results, Company should give particulars of Status of the project, its implementation and expected date of commissioning of the Project. The Company is also required to publish along with quarterly results, the number of investor complaints pending at the beginning of the quarter, received and disposed off during the quarter and. lying unresolved at the end of the quarter.

Presently, the Project of the Company is under execution, therefore, it has to publish quarterly status of the Project instead of quarterly financial results.

The Finance Committee of Directors of the Nigam in its 77th meeting held on October 30, 2007 took on record the quarterly status of the project for the quarter ended September 30, 2007 which is being published in one English daily newspaper circulating in the whole or substantially the whole of India and in one newspaper published in Gujarati.

The Status of the Sardar Sarovar (Narmada) Project for the quarter ended on September 30, 2007 are as follows:

1. Main Dam

a) On Clearance of NCA, the height of the dam spillway has been raised to 121.92 mt.

b) 65.76 lakh Cubic Metre (LCM) concrete has been placed against the total quantity of 68.20 LCM which is about 96.43%.

c) Construction of Irrigation Bye Pass Tunnel is almost completed.

d) Preconstruction activities of Garudeshwar weir has been taken up.

2. Hydro Power House

All five units of Canal Head Power House and all six units of River Bed Power House are commissioned

3. Canal Systems

3.1 Narmada Main Canal (NMC)

Work of NMC from ch. 0 to 263 km is completed and the work of ch. 263 to 357 km is almost completed except Saraswati & Khari-II river Canal Syphon, whereas work of Ch. 357 to 458 km with Dance Canal Syphon is in progress.

3.2 Branch Canals

Work of all the 22 Branch Canals offtaking from NMC ch. 0 to 263 km is completed.

3.3 Saurashtra Branch Canal and its Sub Branches

Work of 70 km of Ssurashtra Branch Canal is completed with lining and work in the remaining reach is in progress. Work of 3 sub branch is completed and work of 3 sub branch is in progress. Out of five Pumping Station on SBC- PS.1 has commenced and the work of remaining Four Pumping stations is in Progress.

3.4 Branch Canals offtaking from NMC Ch 263 to 458 km

Civil work of Viramgam-1 and Kharaghoda branch canal are completed and erection of gates is under progress. Work of Viramgam-II, Kharaghode, Zinzuwada, Goraiya, Bolera, Rajpure, Amarapura and Radhanpur is in progress.

3.5 Kachchh Branch Canal

Work of 75 km length of Kachchh branch canal is in progress. Tenders for three pumping stations are invited.

4.0 Distribution System

Work of distribution system in reach 0 to 312 km of NMC (except command area of SBC) is in full swing.

5.0 Command Area Development

Work of Command Area Development in 4,85,995 Ha. is in full swing. Out of this works in 2,79,308 Ha. has been completed.

The height of Main dam will be raised from time to time subject to necessary clearance. Canals and other works will be completed in phases. It is expected that the entire project will be completed by 2009-10.
