Satyam & Pegasystems Expand Partnership; Establish First-of-its-Kind Pega BPM Center of Excellence in Malaysia

Satyam Computer Services Ltd on March 27, 2008 has announced the establishment of a Pega Business Process Management Center of Excellence (CoE) at its 2000-seat Global Solutions Center (GSC) at Cyberjaya, Malaysia. Satyam teamed with US-based business software maker, Pegasystems Inc., (NASDAQ: PEGA) to create the facility.

Satyam will leverage the capabilities of Pegasystems SmartBPM® Suite to drive business agility, grow revenue, and improve productivity for its global customers. Pega, the market leader in BPM software, introduced its latest version of SmartBPM in February at Gartner's BPM Summit in Las Vegas.

The CoE will develop unique frameworks and methodologies to implement BPM solutions featuring Pega. These will result in speedier, more flexible options that will facilitate development, testing, implementation, and maintenance. In addition, customers of Satyam and Pega-some of the most sophisticated organizations in the world-will gain the agility to respond rapidly to changing market conditions.

"Pega continues to drive the BPM market with its robust products and innovative ability to bring competitive advantage to its customers," said Sriram Krishnan, senior vice president of Satyam's Consulting and Enterprise Solutions Practice. "The new capabilities for capturing business requirements directly in the tool are revolutionary, and significantly increase the efficiency with which applications are delivered. These capabilities also reflect business objectives more accurately. We are pleased to launch the Pega BPM CoE, and look forward to implementing these robust applications for our customers."

Satyam has had a global strategic partnership with Pegs since 2003, and provides consulting and implementation services on SmartBPM, notably design and delivery of industry solutions for insurance, healthcare, banking, and financial services customers.

Satyam also helps Companies use the tool to create horizontal business solutions for key processes; integrated Pegs solutions with SOA, ECM, and EAI technologies; and compliance solutions for fraud detection, anti-money laundering, and Sarbanes-Oxley. The organization provides full architecture, design, and delivery of Smart Pega applications by leveraging its methodologies and design principles for reuse, and to provide onsite-offshore delivery through a team of more than 500 BPM consultants.

"Satyam has consistently proven itself to be a reliable, scalable partner in delivering Pega solutions to our joint customers. This investment by Satyam further complements our growth plans for Asia", said Luke McCormack, Managing Director of Asia Pacific for Pegasystems. "Satyam's rapid ability to embrace new technologies and quickly leverage these industry advances to benefit its customers is the essence of a mature consulting and systems integration Company. We are proud of our longstending relationship with Satyam."

In addition, establishment of the CoE is evidence of Satyam's commitment to making Malaysia a software development hub. These efforts support Satyam's Global Delivery Model 2.0 (GDM), an integral part of its strategy to provide a distributed delivery capability for global customers via an alternative, multi-country workforce.

"Pega is one of our key practice partners and we are pleased to have them join our Malaysia GSC, a strategic part of our global delivery model," said Virender Aggarwal, Satyam's director and Senior vice president, Asia Pacific, Middle East, India, and Africa.

Specifically, Aggarwal said, Satyam has "leveraged Malaysia's world-class infrastructure to build a pool of impressive IT talent since 2001. Today, we have approximately 500 associates in the GSC, two-thirds of whom are Malaysians. The rapid strengthening of our Malaysian operations has bolstered our GDM and in turn, our international expansion. Pega will benefit similarly from its participation."

"We are delighted that Satyam is committed in its quest to grow its Global Solutions Center here in Malaysia, said "Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) CEO Dato' Badlisham Ghazali. "Satyam has always had a key presence in MSC Malaysia, and MDeC will continue to support Companies that show confidence in the country. We hope to provide the capacity and capability to meet to the very high standards of the Pega BPM CoE, so that it can deliver high-quality service to its clients globally."

Moreover, Aggarwal said, Satyam is committed to growing its presence in Malaysia as it embarks on an aggressive expansion initiative. "We plan to make Malaysia our largest software development hub outside of India over the next few years."

Byrraju Foundation & Satyam Make Tele-medicine Available to Millions

Satyam Computer Services Ltd has announced that its global healthcare practice, working with the Byrraju Foundation, has implemented a program to provide tele-electrocardiograms (ECGs) to patients in remote areas of the country who would otherwise have no access to such care. Launched late last year, the program already covers some 3.5 million people in rural villages across India, and is delivered through the Byrraju Foundation's Ashwini Centers, local facilities that provide high-quality healthcare, education, agriculture, and job training for villagers. In the past, patients would have had to travel to a city, at great cost, to receive an ECG or imperil their health by not having one at all.

"With this capability, we're able to treat many more patients from a central location", said Dr. Arun Kumar, "and it's become much easier for village clinics to identify patients who require immediate care."

As a provider of integrated, end-to-end healthcare solutions, Satyam was able to deliver a system that effectively and affordably operates in areas with minimal communications and computing infrastructure, providing complete clinical functionality. SN lnformatics, a technology alliance member in the project, provided its software for free.

"As a non-profit organization, we are always conscious of creating self sustainable, cost-effective models," said Byrraju Foundation Lead Partner V S N Raju. "Satyam has helped us in identifying and implementing scalable and affordable technology that meets our needs."

The program, which was started on October 02, 2007, enables patients in rural villages to have an ECG conducted at a local Aswini clinic while doctors at hospitals such as Narayana Hrudayalaya (NH) in Bangalore offer immediate interpretation, as well as teleconference consultations. The first service was provided in Jinnuru Village and has since spread to 30 of the Byrraju Foundation's 32 Ashwini centers. As of late January, already 2,878 interpretations had been recorded. Of those, 576 patients were referred to a physician for further investigation and 18 required immediate medical attention.

Satyam's global healthcare practice provides telemedicine, emergency management, EHR, EMR and portal solutions to physicians, hospitals, and research facilities worldwide. Among other projects, Satyam is currently working with the Canadian government and has established the Satyam IEHR Centre Canada at Mohawk Applied Research Centre for Health Informatics to develop an Interoperable Electronic Health Records (iEHR)-Reference Implementation, which prototypes advanced data interoperability standards for the country. Satyam is also working on an EHR implementation for the National Department of Health in the Republic of South Africa. "Satyam is ahead of the curve in areas like Emergency Management Solutions and we are seeing a lot of interest in our EHRs and Telemedicine solutions, said Prasad Dindigal, VP and Global Head of Healthcare Provider at Satyam. "Our strategy is to focus on integrated healthcare by bridging the gaps that exist today, as we did with the tele-ECG, and create interoperability between systems to provide solutions that benefit the populace at large."

Satyam to Become First Indian Company to List on Three Major Stock Exchanges

Satyam Computer Services Ltd on January 22, 2008 has announced that its intention to list its American Depository Shares (ADS) on Euronext in Amsterdam.

With the Euronext listing, Satyam will become the first Indian Company to list on three major exchanges around the world, making it a truly globally-tradeable entity. The announcement was made by Satyam chairman Mr. Ramalinga Raju at the first-ever opening bell-ringing ceremony the National Stock Exchange (NSE) here. Other Satyam board members and leaders were present at the ceremony.

"It is indeed an honor to be the very first Company to ring the opening bell at the NSE and to inaugurate this prestigious way of being recognized as a leading Company. The fact that this event also commemorates our imminent listing on Euronext makes it even more prestigious for us. A Euronext listing is a significant and exciting move for the Company, reinforcing our position as a global organization," Mr. Raju said. "Europe is a dynamic and growing market for Satyam and our listing will demonstrate our continued and growing commitment to the region," he added.

Satyam will also be the first Company to list its existing ADSs on Euronext using the exchange's Fast Path application, a means of expediting the cross-listing of non-European Union-based Companies that are already listed on the NYSE. This initiative provides Satyam the means to directly access a larger pool of capital, and gives investors across the EU the opportunity to directly invest in Satyam through a local exchange.

The NYSE, Euronext and NSE are affiliated entities. Upon listing on Euronext, Satyam establishes its association with all three exchanges under one group, and strengthens its presence in three important markets.

'Listing with Euronext will provide numerous benefits to the exchange's customers, and to
Satyam's investors. In addition to making investing in Satyam easier, it enables extended trading. That is, investors can purchase stock on Euronext and sell it on the NYSE the same day," added Raju.
